For the food and pharmaceutical industries
CO2 is unavoidable for many natural and technical applications. If it comes from fossil sources, however, it contributes to man-made climate change. CropEnergies has therefore been working for years on expanding the CO2 circular economy, both for its own plants and as an important contribution to climate-friendly mobility and nutrition.
The raw materials used by CropEnergies absorb CO2 from the atmosphere during growth. When converted into usable products such as neutral and fuel ethanol as well as food and animal feed, biogenic CO2 is produced during the fermentation of the sugar, which can be captured, purified and put to further use. The purity of the carbon dioxide obtained meets the highest requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries.
